My Apartment

Lei found the map of Sun Yat-sen University, so I can show you where I am in it:

There is a north/south road on the right side traveling along the sea.
A smaller road extends westward (left) from the large road and goes over a lake. This small road is Sun Yat-sen Road. I live off of it. Sun Yat-sen Road actually goes under the unbelievably long pink building -- that building is the Education building and is claimed to be the longest building in Asia. South of the road you will see a green field. Keep going left of that field on the road until you come to a rectangular beige field. Now stop. Three tiny yellow buildings are north of the road here. The one closest to the road is mine. It has some of the nicest apartments on campus. The nicest ones are for visiting scholars who have their PhDs and some renown. I am not quite there.. yet.
Unlike the native Chinese teachers, I only have one roommate and not three. Unlike the foreign students, I have a Western style toilet, not a hole in the shower. I would be happy with my apartment if I had it in the States. I am doubly happy to have it here =)

I will try to get some pictures online, too, but I'll publish those in a separate post.

  1. Hmm, I notice you aren't posting as often as you use to. Is this because you are on drugs?!
