Have I mentioned that I love China?

Going to Jusco, buying some groceries. No big deal. Nothing special... right?

WRONG!

This is China, my friends. Every day is a day of unexpected fun if you are willing to look around a bit and enjoy it. For example, below, I got to see a bird on the bus.

As you can see, it was not a hapless bird who flew in from the wild by mistake, but a bird preparing to be the guest of honor at the nice lady's dinner party. In fact, later that night, I saw at a restaurant one of its aunts resting in a somewhat contorted position on a plate, having been fried into a crispy statue of gastronomic perfection.

I was thankful after catching this on film that I had brought along my camera and had had easy access to it since I had just taken a picture of the comforting crack in the windshield of the bus. It is visible in the resulting photo below. It seemed to be emanating from a spot that approximated the average elevation of a pedestrian head and thus inspired the picture that enabled the taping of the fabulousness above.

  1. Thomas said his first word...or words...today. He said "Why does Aunt Rachy ignore me?"
