A walk in the park

Driving along the countryside in northern Spain, Jessica and I have had quite a few conversations about signage, and not just because we have run out of other things to talk about. For example, there is a profile of a leaping deer against a yellow backdrop that we often see. We assume it means that we should keep an eye out for wildlife with the intent of avoiding a high speed accident with some member of that population, and we go on to assume that a deer is used because it is either the most common, the most dangerous, or the most protottpical example of wildlife that cars interact with on these roads. But then Jess and I both wondered: does Spain actually have a lot of deer? Any deer? While we have not obtained any population estimates, we have found deer. We doubt the likelihood of these deer getting into any accident that can be described as "high speed", but we found deer, and that felt important. We also found peacocks, swans, pigeons, chickens - basically a poultry park with a few deer for kicks.  Finally, we found a sign, too. Rather than tell us why the park was supplied with poultry and deer, it told us the age and country of origin (France) of the park, but nothing that eased our admittedly entertaining confusion.
